We are committed to offer a space for our current 3-13 year olds to grow into- a reason for our families to stay anchored in the community beyond early childhood, to evolve our beautiful project into an enduring academic journey through childhood, and into adolescence, and young adulthood.
While the children have created master plans for our long term expansion, our immediate need is to fund and build the first structure for the community within the campus and the children themselves will join the construction team!
Our Envisioned “Academic Art and Media Center” will serve as the primary 2024 Middle School headquarters, and includes 4 distinct instructional spaces:
- Community Development & Project Based Learning Center
- Art and design studio
- Community Courtyard with Mezzanine for co-working & collaboration
- Media Lab & Academic Resource Center
History:
8 years ago, Life Project Education began as a backyard holistic homeschool community of 5 families, 8 children under 8, and 1 teacher. Our collective intention was to explore “a new way” of nurturing & educating children in alignment with our values and visions.
Run by Alys Robinson out of a 2-bedroom, 1 bathroom rental property in Manuel Antonio, our founder’s vision quickly demanded more space to grow the unique non-traditional model.
Answering the community’s call to expand the vision, in full trust of a soul mission guided by the children, and with her family support, Alys became the steward of a 16-bedroom, 16-bathroom Ojochal guest house in 2019.
From day one, the children, families, and teachers of Life Project Education have co-created the path forward. With a commitment to community development, earth guardianship, and global citizenship, our children are active participants in envisioning & designing their learning environment in harmony with nature and in alignment with their creativities and curiosities. They have envisioned and manifested their greenhouse, chicken coop, pig pen, geodesic dome play structures, gardens, trails, fire circle, meditation spaces… their ideas & creativities & committed hands have created our community.
In 8 years, we have grown from 8 children ages 5-8, to 80 children ages 2.5-14.
As our community grows, and as our oldest children approach adolescence, we seek to create continuity and longevity of our successful alternative learning model by expanding our elementary infrastructure to include space to accommodate our maturing children.
In the spirit of Life Project Education’s commitment to co-creation, our adolescents themselves have been the core visionaries, apprentices, consultants, and designers of their dream learning landscape.
While our ambitious 10-year masterplan seeks to ultimately accommodate Preschool-High School, our immediate vision and “Phase One” plans include expansion of our physical infrastructure to accommodate 16 children ages 12-14 by February, 2023.
With the land purchased & prepared, masterplans complete, our first structural designs prepared for permitting, the teaching team assembled, program development underway, we have only funding to accomplish!
To align with our immediate needs and construction timelines, our Phase One expansion plan includes:

Membership as an affiliate includes: direct consulting with founder Alys for your start-up year, 30-day teacher training at our headquarter site for up to 3 teachers, 30-day admin & operations training for one administrator, access to our members' resource library of administrative and curriculum resources, as well as representation on our website.
