Who We Are

Shine Kelly (CEO) & Kristall Onee (President) are the co-founders of UNITE, and have been running wellness events since 2016. They began building the technology platform along with tech leads Swaty Agarwal & Arun Gautam in 2020, with the support of many amazing people, including Couchsurfing founder Casey Fenton

Once it's clear that feeling better is important, how does one best navigate challenges like stress, depression, trauma etc.? We believe there are infinite ways to feel better, heal, & transform; but finding the best path for you can be challenging sometimes!

Shine's mom struggled with deep depression for 5 years (with a PhD in psychology, money, & connections) until she found a therapy called "The Journey", and after only a few sessions, her depression completely lifted!

How Do We Create A New Platform To Support Humanity At This Scale? 

We must first be the aligned leaders, with a commitment to ongoing growth & evolution, who can hold & steward this vision. The knowing that this is our purpose, and the clarity of our mission, has helped us get to this point.

Technology is magical, it allows us to connect with potentially every person on earth, and influence the direction of our world. We saw the need for a new platform, built from the ground up, aligned with the highest values & vision of humanity

Our Traction

Our first jump into tech was in 2020; we created a new social platform, with an integrated marketplace (events, products & services), and some personal development tools. You can check it out @ www.UNITE.love

What we built was not significantly better than the alternatives, and didn't solve an urgent problem. We grew slowly, with 3,838 Members & 880 Businesses today. Our event ticketing service helped sell $82,448 worth of tickets, with 338 events created on UNITE.love/events.

Even with some traction, we realized we needed a breakout feature that really solved a problem for both members & businesses/practitioners, to grow both our revenue and member base, to help create our bigger vision. 

We thought... what's working well in our in-person events?

( We've run 148 wellness events since 2016, with 11,400 attendees, & $558,000 in gross revenue, mostly in Vancouver )

SpeedHealing Overview & Traction

We created this thing called "SpeedHealing" (think Speed Dating for Wellness) just before covid, where practitioners could offer free mini-sessions, to give people a taste of who they are and their modality

And WOW!!! ... the results were astounding!

The positive feedback from practitioners started rolling in from our 5,390 SpeedHealing sessions with 460 Practitioners

• People were booking paid sessions, and buying $5000 packages & retreats etc.!
• We estimate that $139K CAD has come in follow-up sales
  • That's an average 26% conversion rate from free sessions to paid bookings
    • With other methods/platforms, typically ranging from 3% to 8%
• On average, each 10 min free session resulted in $25 in future revenue ( $100 avg. session price)
  • That's just the first session, not counting ongoing & future sales.
• Businesses & practitioners pay us $111 - $3333/event, with the majority of each event being returning healers.
• Participants also receive huge benefits. They shared how much they appreciated being able to try a wide range and variety of free sessions, learn about new modalities, and make new connections & friends!

We knew this was working, and super valuable for both participants and participants, so we thought, why not try this online?

We built a simple Web Version with free SpeedHealing , and had 48 bookings in 48h with 2 practitioners in our first test! This was a clear sign that people would sign up for these sessions online, and we expect many will follow on with paid bookings, so we started building our SpeedHealing App!

It's in beta testing right now and launching ASAP ( hopefully by late September! )

PRIME DIRECTIVE: Affordable & Accessible Wellness For All!

Right now, businesses need to make money (we believe we will generate lots of it); and, our goal will always be to provide the most wellness possible to each person, not to extract the most money possible. We will write this into our legal docs so it can never be changed, as well as holding super-voting shares to ensure the mission is followed

Free Forever 🙌

Our plan is to keep SpeedHealing free forever, for both practitioners & members, so everyone can always access & offer free wellness! We'll limit free sessions to one per person by default (practitioners can choose to offer more if they want)

Business Model

UNITE will make money from transactions & memberships, not from ads, we feel this is very important.

We see UNITE becoming a big company, with billions of members and millions of businesses, with a thriving social platform & marketplace.

Most big social/search platforms use ads to monetize, and that has been amazing and supportive, to have these services like google & facebook for free, but it comes with tradeoffs . . .

Most importantly, INCENTIVES . . .

The incentives for platforms who make money from ads, is to sell as many ads as possible, and have them seen by as many people as possible.

What this looks like in practice is, businesses are given a certain amount of free reach to make them feel like they are getting some traction and reaching their audience, but that reach is limited so that they still feel the need to buy ads.

Platforms using this model create addictive features, promoting attention-grabbing content (not always uplifting or best for you) to keep your attention there

YOU Are The Real Value In Platforms

If you think about the value of these platforms, the only reason businesses will pay to advertise on them, is because they expect people (like you) to buy their offerings. Without your dollars, these platforms are worthless; and, as a member of those platforms, you don't make any money from your participation in them

Integrated Affiliates, No 🚫 Ads, Yes Meritocracy

UNITE will track where sales come from, and pay a % of each transaction to the people who helped make the connections. E.g. if you left a review after a massage, and someone read it and booked, you would get paid as a thank you.

We will have no ads on our platform, instead, it will be built to make connections, and only make money when a sale is made, or with memberships for things like advanced features or mastermind groups.

Meritocracy means that only the best things will be shown to you, and no one can pay to intrude on your sacred scrolling experience

Practitioners & Business Owners Shouldn't Need To Be Sales & Marketing Experts

For many businesses / practitioners, the task of figuring out how to run profitable ads is beyond their scope of interest / skill, so they settle for the little reach they get organically.

Running our wellness events, we spend at least 80% of our time on marketing, and the number one request from all of our vendors & healers is more sales / clients. You're probably in many redundant groups & chats with lots of irrelevant promotion coming your way... doesn't it feel like there should be a better way to do all of this?

We thought, if Facebook (& other platforms) would just tell the people who would love to come to our events about them, we would happily give them a percentage. That's part of how we came up with the idea for UNITE

Automated Sales & Marketing

Using AI (with your permission & preferences), UNITE will only show you what you want to see or what might be most helpful; with the ability to understand why you are seeing what you're seeing, and at any time adjust & change your filters & settings. 

So, if you have a special interest in ecstatic dance events in Vancouver, you can see / get notified about those offerings. You will have the ability to sift and sort by price, location, recommendations etc., quickly & efficiently guiding you to find exactly what you're looking for. 

E.g. when an ecstatic dance host creates an event, it will be shown to those who are interested, and it will have the potential to sell out organically, with zero marketing on the part of the host, and no FOMO for those wanting to attend

UNITE events will continue to help us share & grow the technology platform, and deepen our connection & impact in cities around the world, partnering with local uplifters to uplevel what's already happening, creating thriving community hubs.

We will use the funds to focus on making the app the best ever, getting to "Product Market Fit", where the features are so good that people naturally share it with friends and it starts to grow organically, exponentially

SpeedHealing = Sustainable Growth + Profitability + Expansion

We estimate that for each active practitioner on the platform UNITE could earn $111+/mo (they would need to sell ~$777 worth of services). From each active member we estimate $4.44/mo avg. revenue to UNITE from memberships & purchases.

This means that with only 111 active practitioners, UNITE could earn $12,345/mo which would cover our current spend including our tech team. At 1111 practitioners we're looking at over $1M/year which means we could grow the team and scale to new cities!

We already know that many practitioners! It's just a matter of building the app & making it awesome!

We're still figuring out what % take rate to UNITE works best for all parties. Airbnb & Amazon take 15% on average, blended from buyer & seller. We want to have a lower % if it's a returning customer and higher if UNITE helps make the initial connection, as well as a % for the people involved in facilitating the sale.

SO to reiterate, this is all we need to get UNITE to profitability and on our way to massive expansion & abundance for all these future awesome projects... That's where you come in... Why Us?

We have been deeply focused on these ideas for 10+ years, and are passionate about doing this for the rest of our lives. We have a deep understanding of the market, and are imbedded in the wellness community with brilliant connections worldwide.

We both lost our fathers early, one to cancer, one to mental health & suicide. These experiences, and the effects on our families, highlighted the limitations of the mainstream systems, the importance of prevention, intervention, & access to alternative options (which could have led to very different outcomes), and instilled a passion & commitment to upgrade our collective wellness systems.

Technical & business development experts Swaty Agarwal & Arun Gautam bring 20+ years of experience each. Swaty has led large tech teams, with experience in marketplaces, e-commerce, AI, & blockchain. Arun specializes in business development, management, & logistics.

Couchsurfing founder Casey Fenton is a passionate advisor (highly technical with a deep focus on AI, with experience growing a large marketplace, building trust, & fundraising)
